The Power is yours… Quote No. 9 “Encourage Yourself Encourage Other”

Quote No.9 from Encourage Yourself Encourage Others by Anne Devine.

I often find it helpful to withhold any action in the heat of the moment.  Doing nothing creates space for reflection.

What have you been unsure about lately?  What “positive action” did you take or was “doing nothing” a “positive action” for you?

The Power is yours… Quote No. 24 “Encourage Yourself Encourage Other”

We are approximately two months into Covid19 Lockdown and the myriad of new challenges associated with it.

How do you “deal with what is,” what you are finding is your new, present day reality?

How do you avoid stressing about tomorrow or next week, the “what if?

Please share any strategies that have helped you and anything you have learned as a result.

I’m learning to expand my Covid Coping Toolkit.  A few things I’ve added include more meditation, more uplifting YouTube videos, replacing lost physical contact with online video chats via Zoom,  more family time, phone calls, walks and more appreciation of bird song which is easier to hear now with less traffic where I live.

I’m also learning to stay grounded in the moment, just taking it one day or even one hour at a time.  Sometimes there are challenging hours.   Yesterday’s challenging hour taught me that there is a miracle waiting within each grievance, to teach us something if we are ready to listen.

Note to self..”I found the miracle!  I became what Tolle calls the ‘watchful observer.’  I caught myself in the act.  And it taught me to look at my reaction to the event, not the event itself.  I realised that my reaction, which resulted in silence and resort to junk food during the grievance yesterday weren’t constructive choices.  I’ve since spoken about it, pointed out how I felt.  No blame, no bad feeling, no grievance!  No pain!  That is the miracle!

Roll on today!

Bullying & Beyond…the challenges?

Time and the right conditions not only preserve but bring about something of beauty – Marie Clancy.

I have been writing on the topic of bullying since late last year and I greatly appreciate all the support, encouragement and insightful feedback and comments which I have received to my Bullying & Beyond posts!

In order to access the most up to date information available on bullying and gain some insights and understanding of the Government’s education policy regarding the prevention of bullying,  I decided to join a blended learning programme being offered by NABC; the National Anti Bullying Association of Ireland, entitled Bullying Prevention & Intervention Online Course for Teachers.  It is a ten week online programme which also includes two face to face sessions in DCU, Dublin City University, St Patrick’s, Drumcondra, in Dublin.

And so, I would like to invite you to share your thoughts with me and in doing so, help me inform my answer to the first question we have been posed…

What do you think are the greatest challenges teachers face when dealing with bullying behaviours?

I look forward to your thought provoking responses!

Making moments memorable…

This morning while cooking breakfast, I noticed the bubbles forming and bursting on the surface of my porridge; intent upon their job.  I held onto those air trapped moments, soaking them in! It’s difficult to explain the sensation of absolute awareness that I felt, other than it being a feeling of enhanced appreciation and total bliss.  Life was beautiful; just bubbles and me!

How often do you engage fully in the moment?  Can you describe the sensation?

Three…Complete or incomplete?

2015-03-07 14.42.43

I love this old photo.  It has just reminded me that although we look whole, if you take the time to look closer or get to know someone better, there are always aspects that we haven’t seen!  We may or may not feel complete.  Nobody can complete us, we have to want to complete ourselves!

What do you do to complete yourself? Are you following your dreams?

Here are my previous thought on Retail Reflection
