Hi... failte (Irish for welcome! and pronounced fall-thhha).
I'm a newbie to blogging, here just over a year, but what a great year it has been!
I've turned the corner to 50 recently and two things become more relevant...time and experiences!
Material possessions are less important! Using time wisely and truly experiencing each day holds a new significance for me!
If you wish..., a little of the back story...
I''m blessed to be married to a kind and loving man for 28 years, we have two children now 19 and 21.
As I approached 40 and searching for something more, whilst holding down my then part-time legal secretarial work, I trained as a voluntary adult literacy tutor, with the hope of helping adults improve their literacy skills and have a second, and better experience of learning!
However, little did I think that wanting to help others improve their lives would see my own life improve beyond measure also!
You see for years I found it difficult to know what to do as I watched our two children suffer at the hands of bullies. Their struggle began to change when I returned to education! Through education I slowly gained valuable knowledge, I grew in confidence and self-esteme and it had a ripple effect!
By 2014, aged 47 I had completed a Higher Certificate in Literacy Development and a B.A. in Adult Education. I love my work as an adult educator, particularly when adults trust me enough to let down their defences and 'let me in'. Then I can help them by getting to know what makes them 'tic' and what 'lights their fire!'.
As an added bonus along the way I've realised that I also have a love of writing and that writing is cathartic (providing psychological relief through written expression of built up emotions), both for my students and myself. This blog enables me to pursue that new-found interest and I've really enjoying reading your blogs, sharing comments, getting to know so many people and gaining new perspectives. I also like to share any little 'gems' of learning I've gathered along the way!
Thanks for sharing your stories and for helping me realise that it is all possible...and that together we write a truly better story!
Much love,
Marie x

We had a lot of rain overnight, and it washed down some of the pollen, thank goodness! It also made our garden very happy. 😁

This week has shown definite signs of a cold winter to come … yesterday was heavy overcast and rain but today a weak sun is out again!

Overcast with rain, still wouldn’t take from that sea view though!

oh it gets very dramatic with the wild winds and heavy rain … always changing and always entertaining!
Will probably head back home next week … seems we may have lockdown lifted next Friday.

It has been sunny, really sunny and a few fluffy clouds keeps sailing across the dark blue sky. While my cousin keeps complaining of the killing summer, I am strangely as cool as a cucumber 😀 I mean there is nothing that we can do to ask the sun to stay away. But the mangoes that are slowly ripening on a tree outside my window, cabbage white butterflies that are fluttering out, and the summer flowers blossoming seem to have so much fun. And I am happy for that.

That is a picture postcard view Parikhit that you describe and appreciate and how blessed you are to be consciously aware of its beauty which alters your physical and mental wellbeing. Your cousin not yet so successful in the practice of gratitude but with you leading by example he will hopefully awaken to this pain free reality. Thanks Parikhit for your wonderful comment. Is there any end to lockdown in sight in India?

Thank you so much Marie 🙂 I have always believed that if we focus in the smaller things, the bigger picture looks beautiful as well. There are so many things to be grateful for and time has taught me better. It is indeed funny because we were walking last evening and when my cousin joined me later, she was complaining of mosquitoes getting onto her while I didn’t even realise their presence 😀
The lock-down continues for another 2 weeks but the government has relaxed the movement in certain zones since this morning. And I read about people moving about as though there is nothing to be careful about. I did read about people lining up before the fast food joints since wee hours of morning! It is worrisome because the threat hasn’t faded yet. How is it in Ireland?

True Parikhit, it takes time to realise! Similar here, still in lockdown but people can exercise up to 5km from home now and over 70’s can come outside during quieter times. I think it’s important that people remain cautious, follow the guidelines of social distance and hand hygiene to enable numbers of new cases continue to decrease. Last thing we need is a 2nd wave! Stay safe & well.

Life is gradually limping back to life. Indeed we need to be really cautious for a couple of months to mitigate any unforeseen problems that may arise if we aren’t cautious. Stay safe 🙂
