I enjoyed some relaxing leisure time with colleagues and students on our yearly outing recently. Our trip included time at The Irish National Stud & Japanese Garden. This display of flags represents all the countries that have completed The Irish National Stud Breeding Course. Can you spot your flag here? If you can or if you can’t, please say hello and tell me where you are on the globe? Better still tell me something interesting about where you live?My geography is improving daily thanks to the little map on WP Stats!

the aussie flag is in the second row on the right … I’ve been keen for years to replace the unions jack with our First Nations flag! About time we recognised the oldest living people and separated from the colonialists … no offence meant 🙂

Don’t see the flag of the USA. Even though it seems like there is a lot wrong, the USA is an awesome place to live. Each state has their special ‘thing’ they are known for. Where I live, in Minnesota, we are known for our ten thousand lakes! “Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes.” And there are a few more than 10,000 in my state. The lesser known fact is that MInnesota is #1 when it comes to donating bone marrow! (In the states, if you check your organ donor card, this is one thing that is also taken.) I’m very proud of this little known fact! Great post!😊💜

I’ve not heard of the Irish National Stud before, what’s that? A Japanese Garden sounds like a lovely visit, I’d really enjoy spending time at one of those. I’m in the UK, where I’m still hoping the summer eventually remembers to visit us this year! xx

Caz, we are in the same position here! Raining all day today and evenings feel like September. Forecast for better day tomorrow…hopefully! The Irish National Stud is about 1 hour (60km) out of Dublin, in Kildare. Kildare is on main trainline too. Stud just 3km from town. The Japanese garden is small but so pristine and beautiful. I have a few more photos to share. Newbridge Silverware has a free exhibition centre, it has clothes collections, at present Lady Di’s black revenge dress! Also outfits from The Beatles, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and many many more, again beautiful and worth seeing! Thanks for your enjoyable company! xx

Oh dear, let’s hope the weather picks up for both of us soon then, it’s getting pretty miserable. A bit of sunshine and warmth without rain always makes things feel a bit brighter. Thank you for explaining, I’ve definitely learned a few new things today!
The exhibition at the Newbridge Silverware sounds fantastic, I’d love to see the clothes on show there! Looking forward to seeing a few more photos of the Japanese garden in the future 🙂

I can see our New Zealand flag there on the left 😁 Everyone knows us as Middle Earth in the Tolkien movies, but we have a very diverse and varied landscape here. Each part of out small country looks and feels very different, from huge volcanic areas, to lush bush, to the wild west coast beaches and their black sands. But the best thing about NZ is the people. We are friendly, open, down-to-earth, practical and funny.
Thanks for the cool posts about the different places you are visting. I love armchair travel!! 😁

Glad to hear you are enjoying my armchair travel opportunities! New Zealand is amazing. I enjoyed seeing it in Lord of the Rings! Irish & New Zealand people sound more alike that different!

I’ve always suspected that. I think that’s why I’ve always wanted to visit 😁 Apparently the Irish landscape is very similar to NZ too.
