Hi... failte (Irish for welcome! and pronounced fall-thhha).
I'm a newbie to blogging, here just over a year, but what a great year it has been!
I've turned the corner to 50 recently and two things become more relevant...time and experiences!
Material possessions are less important! Using time wisely and truly experiencing each day holds a new significance for me!
If you wish..., a little of the back story...
I''m blessed to be married to a kind and loving man for 28 years, we have two children now 19 and 21.
As I approached 40 and searching for something more, whilst holding down my then part-time legal secretarial work, I trained as a voluntary adult literacy tutor, with the hope of helping adults improve their literacy skills and have a second, and better experience of learning!
However, little did I think that wanting to help others improve their lives would see my own life improve beyond measure also!
You see for years I found it difficult to know what to do as I watched our two children suffer at the hands of bullies. Their struggle began to change when I returned to education! Through education I slowly gained valuable knowledge, I grew in confidence and self-esteme and it had a ripple effect!
By 2014, aged 47 I had completed a Higher Certificate in Literacy Development and a B.A. in Adult Education. I love my work as an adult educator, particularly when adults trust me enough to let down their defences and 'let me in'. Then I can help them by getting to know what makes them 'tic' and what 'lights their fire!'.
As an added bonus along the way I've realised that I also have a love of writing and that writing is cathartic (providing psychological relief through written expression of built up emotions), both for my students and myself. This blog enables me to pursue that new-found interest and I've really enjoying reading your blogs, sharing comments, getting to know so many people and gaining new perspectives. I also like to share any little 'gems' of learning I've gathered along the way!
Thanks for sharing your stories and for helping me realise that it is all possible...and that together we write a truly better story!
Much love,
Marie x

When we finally got some good weather this past week, I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed just puttering around my back yard, watering the flowers!

Good for you, Marie. We all deserve a beautiful moment now and again especially after this extremely long and harsh winter many of us had. Lucky lucky you! This beach is absolutely gorgeous and man do I wish I could be there today! Thank you for sharing. As for my moment… I was truly grateful that one of my cats flew through a dental surgery and was absolutely fine. 💕😎💕

Yes a long long winter but one day on Inch beach makes up for it all. Today may not be your day but maybe your photos will bring you to Inch Beach some day soon and if it is on your horizon be sure and put me in the picture so we can cross paths! I’m so glad your treasured cat came through surgery so well. Xx

I have every intention of heading out to Beaver Island this summer for a photos and fun. That is a beach, not as nice as your Inch Beach but I’ll take it. The others are in Canada and no way I’m crossing the border by myself. I’ll have to talk hubby into going with me to Sherkston Beach which is SOOOOOO gorgeous! (in Canada) Our time is just so darn limited on account of what we do with our special cats. I’m really going to try though …. THANK YOU for the inspiration! 😘😘😘

Please share your trip to Beaver Island and Sherkston if you manage to get time for a break there and I hope you talk your husband into the trip. Your interest in special cats sounds intriguing. Keep the beautiful photos coming and keep sharing!

In thinking matters over, I’ll have more success inviting one of my neighbors to come with me to enjoy a respite from our lives over that of my husband. Besides, someone must be here to put out lunch for our cats. I’ll work on asking one of two women I have in mind to go to the beach (Canada) with me. They can chill and relax while I buzz all over the place with my camera in hand. Sounds like a fair deal. 😎

Beautiful scenery & post! Thank you Marie.
My one minute Sunday today is enjoying sitting listening to the rain dropping it’s percussive drops on our pergola roof outside, hearing my man busy making his Vanilla caramel slice in the kitchen, to take to a family night tonight & enjoying the moments of contentment within each 😀

Ohh Marie. This made my day. I was just going through photos and ran across a couple of photos from there. We stayed only one night and I do think it was one of my favorite places to just sit. A beautiful and very large beach. For me… my one minute Monday was the decision to skip dinner and just have some cheese and wine on the edge of the pool.
PS. Is your son ready? this week, yes?

Hi Donna, thanks for your lovely chatty reply! I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay in Inch. The mountain backdrop does it for me! Your one minute Monday sounds fantastic…I love spur of the moment decisions and anything that brings change of routine.
If you are referring to exams, he managed to sit them all and voiced a decent level of satisfaction! So as they say, where there’s life there’s hope!! Next big date 15.8.18 exam results! Thanks for thinking of him. Xx
