To All Nursing Students, including my own: If I were to assign any homework this weekend it would be to take a break. 10 minutes at a time. 5 times a day. Because you have all worked exceptionally hard the past two weeks. And a good rest is half the work. Although things may not […]

I JUST HAD TO SHARE THIS GREAT ADVICE from Dr.D for all paths in life, step back, pause, recoup and learn to CREATE the balance as “Balance is not something you find, it’s something you create”. Otherwise we will never find it, be given it, buy it or borrow it!
What will you do today to CREATE balance in your Saturday?

The past 3 Christmas’s have been so stressful for my husband and I. It makes me sad that money is so tight and we can not afford much. But, then I remind myself that Christmas is not and should not be all about buying as much as possible, it should be more about spending time with family.
I have asked my husband to please help me fix something on my car this weekend. A piece of the roof (inside the car) is coming down and hitting me in the head while I try to drive. We just need to take it down and put some glue on it and it should be as good as new!! I hope you have a great and restful weekend!! Much love, Alyssa

I am sorry to hear that things are not easy for you Alyssa. I hope you sort these issues with the same determination you use to work, live & write despite severe flareup of MS. Xx

Today I’m resting to balance out the week. Last night I went to bed early and I was up early to walk on the frosty grass. I feel more centered when I take care of me. I hope you have a great weekend filled with relaxing times and centered creative space! xo

A good plan Janie! Learning to put ourselves first is not easy particularly coming from a Catholic upbringing. We caught up with a couple of friends today over a relaxing meal. I see it as replenishing my jug so I can pour myself into others.

I sometimes have to just walk away to get my balance or regain it. It’s good to take breaks and recompose. Then we can breathe it in. Great post to remind us of that!

Good strategy thanks for sharing Kathleen, I agree, great post and important to be reminded about the benefit and knock-on effect of self care!

Resting, rather than quitting, is a strategy I use often when I’m at the animal shelter. Sometimes the need there is so much greater than my ability to meet it that I want to give up. But when that happens, I just take a short break…either a literal ten minute break to sit down and drink some water or soda, or take a couple of days off to regroup. And then I have the strength to get back into it. The rest keeps me from quitting! Thanks for this post!!!

Thanks for reading Ann and for sharing your strategy! It’s important to find the balance, most days, that way everybody wins in the end!

Good advice! I tend to work myself into the ground, and that’s not healthy. I’m trying to take more little micro-vacations. 🙂

Glad this resonated with you Cathleen, and that you are taking a more pro-active approach to your self-care! We love what we call mini-breaks! Food for the soul!!
